Anguilla Beach Guide

The Best Beaches in Anguilla to Visit With a Private Chauffeur

Anguilla is widely regarded as having some of the finest beaches in the Caribbean — and for good reason. The island is home to 33 named beaches, many of them uncrowded, pristine, and accessible only if you know where to go. Having a private chauffeur and vehicle at your disposal transforms beach-hopping from a logistics exercise into one of the most relaxed parts of your Anguilla experience.

This guide covers the beaches that are most worth visiting, what makes each one distinct, and what to know about getting there — whether you are spending a full day exploring or building a custom itinerary with a private driver.

Best beaches in Anguilla — crystal clear water and white sand
Anguilla's beaches are consistently ranked among the finest in the Caribbean — uncrowded, clear, and worth the trip.

Shoal Bay East

Best Overall Beach

~20–25 min from west-end resorts

Shoal Bay East is consistently ranked among the top beaches in the Caribbean and is the one beach most visitors to Anguilla make time for. The water is a particularly vivid shade of turquoise — more blue-green than most Caribbean beaches — and the fine white sand is wide and deep enough to feel genuinely uncrowded even at peak times.

The beach has a handful of low-key restaurants and beach bars, making it easy to spend a full day here without needing to leave. It is on the northeastern end of the island, approximately 20–25 minutes from most west-end resorts by road.

With a private chauffeur, there is no need to arrange a separate taxi for the return journey — your driver can be available to collect you at whatever time suits, or can drop you and continue to be on call for any other stops during the day.

Meads Bay

Luxury Resort Beach

~15–20 min from The Valley

Meads Bay is the beach most associated with Anguilla's luxury resort scene. Four Seasons Anguilla and Malliouhana both sit directly on Meads Bay, and the beach itself is long, calm, and immaculately maintained — the kind of setting that makes Anguilla's reputation.

The water here is generally calm and excellent for swimming. Blanchard's restaurant, one of the island's most celebrated dining experiences, sits at the far end of the bay. A private chauffeur makes it easy to arrive, dine, and continue to another beach or return to your resort without any of the usual taxi coordination.

Rendezvous Bay

Longest Beach

~10–15 min from Blowing Point

Rendezvous Bay is the island's longest stretch of beach at approximately 2 miles, and offers a different character from the more resort-fronted beaches. It is quieter, wider, and has long uninterrupted stretches of sand with views directly across to St Maarten.

Cap Juluca is located at one end of Rendezvous Bay, and the CuisinArt Golf Resort sits at the other. The beach between the two properties is largely undeveloped, making it one of the best beaches for a long, undisturbed walk or a genuinely quiet afternoon.

Given its length, Rendezvous Bay rewards guests who are dropped off by a driver rather than those relying on taxis — you can walk the full stretch and be collected at the far end at a pre-agreed time.

Little Bay

Most Dramatic Setting

Cliff viewpoint ~5 min from Sandy Ground

Little Bay is one of the island's most spectacular spots — a small beach enclosed by dramatic limestone cliffs, accessible only by boat or by a rope descent down the cliff face. The water is a deep, vivid blue and the setting is unlike anywhere else on the island.

For guests arriving by private boat charter, Little Bay can be included as a stop during a day on the water. For those exploring overland, access to the beach itself requires a boat transfer from Road Bay in Sandy Ground.

The surrounding cliffs and viewpoint above Little Bay are accessible by road, and a chauffeur who knows the island can take guests to the clifftop viewpoint — one of the best photography spots in Anguilla — before or after any water-based visit to the beach below.

Sandy Ground & Road Bay

Anguilla's Social Hub

~10 min from most west-end resorts

Sandy Ground is where the island's working boat culture, its most social restaurants, and its best rum bars converge in one long strip along Road Bay. It is less of a swimming beach and more of a destination for food, atmosphere, and people-watching — the closest Anguilla gets to a village with a beach attached.

Elvis's Beach Bar is an Anguilla institution at Sandy Ground, as is Pumphouse, which occupies a converted 19th-century salt factory. Most of the island's sailing and fishing activity also takes place here.

A private chauffeur makes Sandy Ground a natural evening destination — arrive for dinner, take in the atmosphere along the strip, and depart at your own pace without the uncertainty of taxi availability late at night.

Barnes Bay & Cove Bay

Local Favourites

~15 min from The Valley

Barnes Bay and Cove Bay are less well known than Shoal Bay or Meads Bay, which is precisely what makes them worthwhile. Barnes Bay in particular is a calm, sheltered beach with very clear water and minimal crowds — popular with local families and guests who discover it on longer-stay visits.

Cove Bay runs into Rendezvous Bay and shares its calm, undeveloped character. Both beaches are on the south-west coast and are best reached with local knowledge — a guide who knows the island is useful here, as signage can be minimal.

Planning a Beach Day With a Private Chauffeur

A private island tour with a local chauffeur typically covers 3–5 beaches in a half-day or full-day format, with stops determined by your interests and pace. Unlike fixed-tour arrangements, a private driver allows you to stay longer at the beaches you love and skip the ones that do not suit you on the day.

The chauffeur serves as a local guide throughout — recommending where to eat, which spots are worth walking to, and what the water conditions are like at each beach on any given day. This kind of local knowledge is the difference between a good beach day and an exceptional one.
