Meads Bay, West End
Meads Bay sits on Anguilla's west coast — a long, unhurried stretch of white sand that faces the afternoon sun head-on. It's the kind of beach where you pick a spot in the morning and find yourself still there at sunset, having genuinely lost track of time. Frangipani Beach Resort has occupied one end of it for years, and its position on the beach is perhaps its greatest asset.
The resort is around 15–20 minutes from Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport — a relaxed drive that takes you across the island's west end. Your chauffeur meets you in arrivals, handles your luggage, and gets you there without any of the usual arrival hassle. The Straw Hat restaurant is often one of the first things guests mention when they check in, and dinner reservations are worth thinking about before you land.
Guests arriving by ferry from St Maarten will find Blowing Point about 20–25 minutes away — a straightforward run up the west coast. Your driver waits at the terminal with a name board and takes care of everything from the moment you step off the boat.
About The Property
One of the longest and most sheltered beaches on Anguilla's west coast. The water here is calm — protected by a gentle curve in the shoreline — and the sand stays light and fine even at the waterline. Morning light hits it particularly well.
A Meads Bay institution. The menu is Caribbean with Mediterranean influences — fresh fish, good pasta, and a wine list that holds up. Dining at the water's edge in the evening, with the lights of St Maarten faint in the distance, is genuinely difficult to replicate.
With around 30 rooms and suites, the property stays personal. It was built by a family and retains that character — the kind of place where the staff remember your name, your preferred morning coffee order, and your thoughts on the snorkelling from their pier.
Several rooms open directly onto the sand. You step out of your room and the beach is there — no path, no lobby to cross. It's a simple thing that makes an outsized difference to how a stay actually feels.
Frangipani sits in good company. Malliouhana is further up the same bay, and a handful of restaurants and small bars are within a short walk or beach stroll. The area has a calm social life without ever feeling like a resort strip.
Kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkel gear are available at the beach. The western reef at Meads Bay has decent snorkelling — healthy coral and a reasonable variety of reef fish. It's accessible from the resort's shoreline.
